Evoking the notion of both route and connective pathway, this itinerary of short- and medium-length works from Mexico channels senses of place and the spirit of artisanal makers, often against a context of increasing modernity. From the valleys of Oaxaca to the streets of a vanishing Ciudad de México, an ‘other’ cinema emerges from portraits of people - makers of sandals and beeswax candles, foragers of native plants - and habitat, culminating in a frenetic vision of urban life from an expatriate returning to his native country circa 1989.
