I Can See It From Here brings together a new body of paintings by Hank Reavis, created between 2024 and 2026, that explores the unstable nature of memory through deliberately pixelated imagery. Drawing from personal photographs, Google Street View, and online archives, Reavis uses tightly cropped source material less as direct representation than as mnemonic cues, inviting viewers to reconstruct larger emotional landscapes from partial visual information. Rather than treating pixelation as a commentary on technology itself, he employs the language of digital images to reflect the ways memories are preserved, degraded, and reshaped over time. Though the paintings appear mechanically objective, each pixel is painstakingly rendered by hand, emphasizing the deeply human act of reconstruction. Rooted in traditions of Northwest painting while engaging contemporary digital culture, Reavis' work suggests that even the smallest visual detail can carry an unexpectedly dense emotional resonance, acknowledging both the persistence of memory and its inevitable incompleteness.
